Maria Bamford brings Big Laughs at Patchogue Theatre November 19

Maria Bamford brings Big Laughs at Patchogue Theatre November 19

Stephen Colbert called her his “favorite comedian on earth” and Judd Apatow said she is “the funniest woman in the world.”

Maria Bamford agrees that she is very talented and may, in fact, have a gift. (As do we all. AS DO WE ALL!) Maria is the first female comic to have two half-hour “Comedy Central Presents” specials. And now, two well-received specials on Netflix called “The Special Special Special” and “Old Baby.”

Tix and info Maria Bamford brings Big Laughs at Patchogue Theatre November 19

Awarded Best Club Comic at the American Comedy Awards and Breakout Comedy Star at the Montreal Comedy Festival, her critically acclaimed work includes her web series “The Maria Bamford Show” (featured at MOMA NY), “Ask My Mom” (recommended by The New Yorker), and her Netflix series “Lady Dynamite” (2 seasons).

Maria’s writing has been featured in The New York Times, LA Weekly and The Onion. She has 5 hours of stand-up available on iTunes that includes her latest recording “20%.” 20 percent is the amount of effort Maria puts into Everything She Does, if not five.

Maria has contributed comedic voice overs for such animations as Netflix’s “Big Mouth” and “BoJack Horseman,” Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time,” PBS’s Emmy-winning series “Word Girl,” Nickelodeon’s “Kung Fu Panda” and “Legend of Korra,” and the international hit “Talking Tom and Friends.” She can do about 11 voices, not including her own, but just a little higher and faster.

For her mental health advocacy, she’s been presented with The OCD Foundation’s Illumination Award and featured at the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, The Chautauqua Institution and the Saks Institute for Mental Health Law, Policy and Ethics Symposium. She’s not always right for these rooms, but she’s on time and pleasant.

In terms of showbiz, Maria has enough work and has made it and is swimming in a gravy boat, filled with scrumptious gravy. The goal for Bamfooco, Inc. is to give 11% of net profits to charity, and she is working towards that goal with a calculator. She loves trees, comedians, people, the world, personal finance and reality shows and lives in Altadena with her husband, artist Scott Marvel Cassidy and their dog Jackie Onassis.

Railroad Earth Plays Patchogue Theatre March 22 2023

Railroad Earth plays Patchogue Theatre March 22, 2023.

For over two decades, Railroad Earth has captivated audiences with gleefully unpredictable live shows and eloquent and elevated studio output.

The group introduced its signature sound on 2001’s The Black Bear Sessions.

Between selling out hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, they’ve launched the longstanding annual Hangtown Music Festival in Placerville, CA and Hillberry: The Harvest Moon Festival in Ozark, AR—both running for a decade-plus.

Sought after by legends, the John Denver Estate tapped them to put lyrics penned by the late John Denver to music on the 2019 vinyl EP, Railroad Earth: The John Denver Letters.

Beyond tallying tens of millions of streams, the collective have earned widespread critical acclaim from David Fricke of Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, Glide Magazine, and NPR who assured,

“Well-versed in rambling around, as you might expect from a band named after a Jack Kerouac poem,

the New Jersey-built jam-grass engine Railroad Earth has let no moss grow under its rustic wheels.”

The celebrated New Jersey septet — Todd Sheaffer [lead vocals, acoustic guitar], Tim Carbone [violins, electric guitar, vocals], John Skehan [mandolin, bouzouki, piano, vocals], Carey Harmon [drums, percussion, vocals], Dave Speranza [upright & electric bass], Matt Slocum (organ and piano), and Mike Robinson (banjo, guitar, steel) chronicle the twists and turns of this journey through eloquent songcraft, bluegrass soul, and rock ‘n’ roll spirit.

Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes Plays Patchogue Theater Friday March 10

Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes Plays Patchogue Theatre Friday March 10

For Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes – ‘comfortable’ – has never been a word associated with their brand of raucous, roots-tinged rock and bluesy reverie.

named […]one of the “top 100 albums of the 70s and 80s”

The band has flourished with more than thirty albums, releasing twelve studio albums since 1976….Rolling Stone named their early release “Hearts of Stone” as one of the “top 100 albums of the 70s and 80s”….thousands of live performances around the globe, a legion of famously-dedicated and enthusiastic fans, and a vibrant legacy of classic songs that have become “hits” to their worldwide fan base.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes emerged from the New Jersey shore scene in 1974, and though they carried over a significant influence (and some key personnel) from Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, the Jukes evolved as more of a white R&B horn band in the Memphis Stax Records tradition.

Organized by singer John Lyon, guitarist/songwriter Steve Van Zandt (who decamped for the E Street Band in 1975, but continued to produce, manage, and write songs for the Jukes) and Richie Rosenberg, the band is well known for their high-energy live shows and no-holds-barred songs, including “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” “Havin’ a Party,” “The Fever,” “Talk to Me,” “Trapped Again,” and “This Time It’s For Real.”

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at Patchogue Theatre

Still tinged with the exuberant rhythm and blues feel that is the Jukes’ trademark, and loaded with the driving sound of the legendary Jukes horn section, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes continue to expound their signature Jersey Shore sound – all for the sheer joy of it.
